Pokemon Go Gets “Go Snapshot” Update; Now Live On Android

Earlier in the month, Niantic announced that it will be adding the “Go Snapshot” feature to Pokemon Go earlier this month. The update is now live, but only on Android OS.

Go Snapshot is an in-game feature that will allow players to choose any Pokemon in your inventory and place them in picturesque surroundings. Allowing you to capture the moment within real-world backgrounds, albeit with comical undertones. To gain access to the feature, you’ll need to be a level 5 trainer at the bare minimum.

It should be noted that Pokemon Go players were already able to take photos with Pokemon that are out in the wild, but never with Pokemon that have been captured.

Matt Slemon, product manager at Niantic, also told Polygon in an interview that his team had also made some in-game improvements. These updates include improved shadow and dynamic lighting effects which include intricate details, such as turning the flames around Chamander’s tail into a light source. Additionally, the AR camera feature eliminates some of the “randomness” and the lack of control some player feels.

Unfortunately, Niantic did not specify when Go Snapshot will be available on iOS.
