Writer Of Rogue One Is Not Happy With The Way EA Handled Star Wars License

It was barely a week ago that we heard that EA has decided to shutter another Star Wars game. This is in favour of a shorter-term game release scheduled for 2020. If you’re a fan of the franchise, you’re likely unhappy about this development. You’re not alone though, as Rogue One scriptwriter Gary Whitta has a lot of choice words to describe the events.

Whitta was on the Kinda Funny Games YouTube show last week, discussing the news of the cancelled Star Wars game, among other things. And he looked devastated when the report was reported to him, before voicing his own very strong opinions on the matter.

The video in question is embedded above, and you can watch his reaction for yourself. He and host Greg Miller spent a good 30 minutes discussing the matter, before moving on to other topics. Some very strong language is involved, so viewer discretion is advised.

While it’s not a new sentiment among Star Wars and video game fans, it probably carries more weight when voiced by someone who himself was involved in the story of Star Wars. That said, this is all Whitta’s own opinion, and it shouldn’t be taken as the opinion of Disney unless the company publicly makes a statement regarding this.
