WhatsApp Web update includes new ‘Picture-in-Picture’ mode
WhatsApp Web is releasing its newest update that allows the Picture-in-Picture (PiP) feature to be used for YouTube, Facebook, Instagram and Streamable videos, according to WABetaInfo.
This functionality kicks in when a message (either sent or received) has a link to the video from those platforms mentioned above. WhatsApp will show the video in a preview mode, and if you click it, the video plays in PiP.
You will also be able to switch between messages without closing out the PiP or interrupting the chat.
If you don’t have the update yet, it probably means that you have the old version of WhatsApp Web. To get the update. you need to clear your browser’s cache. Once you restart your browser, the latest update should be there.
This feature is exclusive to the Web version but will most likely available in WhatsApp Desktop’s next update.
