TM Increases unifi Basic Throttle Speed to 512kbps; 60GB Quota Is Now Expandable via Add-On Passes

Originally launched in August last year for the B40 household before it became available to all customers just one month later, unifi Basic offers speed of up to 30Mbps. While it is the most affordable option out of the two unifi Home plans at the moment with a monthly fee of RM 79, it does come with a 60GB quota per month in which users’ Internet speed would be throttled once they hit that limit.

Interestingly though, it seems that TM has recently increased the throttle speed. At launch, the throttle speed was set to 128kbps but in the unifi Basic’s FAQ document that is dated 9 January 2019, the throttled speed is now 512kbps which definitely much more bearable.

That’s not all though; it seems that unifi Basic customers now no longer need to wait until their quota to be refreshed in order to continue using their Internet. All they need to do is to purchase any of these unifi Basic add-on passes which have finally been made available to them despite being mentioned back in the July 2018’s announcement:

The accompanying FAQ document also pointed out that while users are free to purchase these passes at almost any time, they are only valid within one billing cycle. In other words, we would recommend unifi Basic customers out there to purchase these passes only when they really need them.
