Rumour: Motorola Razr Flip Phone Could Make A Comeback; May Be Limited And Pricey

Lenovo may have pulled the Motorola brand out of the Malaysian market, but it doesn’t mean that the smartphone brand isn’t active in other parts of the world. In fact, a new rumour online is suggesting that the brand may be planning to bring back its ever popular Razr flip phone.

While this bit of news may excite some users who used the phone back in 2004, there are some caveats attached with this bit of news. Firstly, reports say that if and when the phone does make a comeback, it is highly likely that the phone will cost an arm and a leg. Specifically, speculations suggest that the phone could cost as much as US$1500 (~RM6162); considerably more than a 64GB and 256GB iPhone XS.

There’s also the possibility that, given its popularity, Lenovo might choose to manufacture and sell a limited number of the phone. In an effort to reaffirm the phone’s status as a really “premium” device.

The aforementioned drawbacks notwithstanding, there is a silver lining in the cloud for the new Razr. According to Cult of Mac, Lenovo might just take a cue from Samsung on the phone. Offering a Razr that utilises today’s new foldable display technology. It’s a decision that actually makes a lot of sense, given the obvious design language and aesthetics of the original Razr flip phone.

At this point in time, there has been no official confirmation from Lenovo. Therefore, take this news with a liberal dusting of salt until then.
