Qualcomm Patent Case Against Apple Gets Thrown Out By German Court; Says Lawsuit Is “Groundless”

Qualcomm had its latest patent lawsuit against Apple thrown out by a German Court recently. According to a report by Reuters, the court in Mannheim, Germany, threw out the case against the fruit company, on the grounds that it was “groundless”.

The court further stated that Qualcomm’s patent in question was “not violated” by its installation in Apple smartphones. Needless to say, Apple was happy with the court’s decision.

Qualcomm recently won an injunction against Apple several weeks ago. The injunction, which is already in effect, essentially bans Apple from selling its iPhones that contain chips provided by Qorno Inc. One of Apple’s many suppliers. The specific ban means that Apple was forced to pull out its iPhone 7 and iPhone 8 models from shelves in Germany.

Prior to that, the semiconductor maker won another injunction against Apple in China as well. In that scene, Apple was banned from selling several models of its iPhones in the country. Ranging from the iPhone 6 series, all the way to its iPhone X.
