Microsoft Still Preventing Some Intel PCs From Receiving Windows 10 October 2018 Update

The month of November is already coming to an end. Believe it or not, there are still some Intel-powered PCs that still haven’t been received Microsoft’s Windows 10 October 2018 update. In this scenario, however, it’s Microsoft itself that is preventing the updates from happening for said Intel PCs.

According to sources, Microsoft’s primary reason for doing this is due to a display driver issue that only seems to affect specific Intel PCs. The bug was apparently discovered inside its Windows Insider program during testing. Instead of delaying the update’s rollout entirely, Microsoft instead chose to simply block the affected PCs.

If you’re unsure if your PC happens to be one of the blocked systems, you simply check simply by following these steps:

  1. Enter the Start Menu.
  2. Search and select Device Manager.
  3. Enter Display Adapters.
  4. Under the “Intel HD Graphics” options, right-click and open up “Properties.
  5. Select Drivers Tab.
  6. Ensure that your driver version is listed as 24.20.100.6344 or 24.20.100.6345.

If your Intel display driver isn’t listed as either of the two listed versions, then it’s highly likely that your system was affected. If this is the case, we do recommend that you contact Microsoft directly via its official 1-800-MICROSOFT hotline.
