Another Construction Work Breaks TM’s Cable: Subsequently Repaired In Less Than 24 Hours

This particular alert missed our radar but as the story goes, TM has revealed that the company faced another cable cut incident last Friday, 23 November. This time, it took place at Cherating in Pahang although it was still caused by construction work just the multiple incidents on 17 December.

While the effect on the national Internet connection wasn’t as bad as per 17 to 19 December, the incident in Cherating still have some effects on the Internet traffic in Pahang, Sabah, and Sarawak. That being said, TM has rerouted the traffic immediately after the incident was detected in order to avoid congestion.

The company then provided another update on the morning of 24 November that the repair job on the broken cable has been completed with services being fully restored at 7am. Just like previously, TM has also provided several pictures of the incident area as well as the repair job that was being done on the cable.

As per what we pointed before, TM previously didn’t really provide in-depth and timely updates regarding broken cables and repair jobs on their infrastructure until the multiple fibre cut incidents two weeks ago. While the company surely still need to sort out other issues that still plaguing its relationship with customers, this is a good start as customers certainly don’t like being left in the dark when it comes to broken cables that could have impact on their Internet services.
