Google Docs, Sheets, Slides And More Now Accessible Using “.New” URLs

If you find yourself relying frequently on Google’s productivity tools like Docs and Sheets, then you’ll be glad to know that there’s now a way to get to them that’s a lot faster than they way you usually do. In fact, all you need to do now is type the name of the app you want to use into your browser, followed by the ‘.new’ extension.

Google announced this on Twitter, alongside multiple examples of their uses. As you can see, the company is making it as foolproof as possible, so that even a missed ‘s’ at the end of Docs will still get you to Google Docs.

For those who use these apps frequently, you’ll likely appreciate this shortcut. Typing ‘docs.new’ is certainly a lot shorter than typing ‘docs.google.com’ and then selecting a blank template. Speaking of which, if you want to use a pre-made template, then you’ll have to use the complete URL.

Incidentally, this new function doesn’t work with Google Keep notes. So if you’re making a note using Keep, you’ll have to do it the old-fashioned way.
