Breaking An iPhone XS Max Display Costs US$329 To Repair

If you’ve ever dropped your phone and shattered the display, you’ll understand just how heart wrenching and costly it is to have it repaired. With the arrival of the Apple iPhone XR, XS, and XS Max imminent, you’re going to want to be extra delicate with the way you handle it.

According to the repair price list on the Apple US page, fixing a broken display on an iPhone XS Max will set users back a staggering US$329 (~RM1369) just to repair. To put that cost into perspective, that’s about a fifth of the phone’s official SRP in Malaysia.

Bear in mind, that’s just the cost of repairing the display of the iPhone XS Max. Of the new models, the iPhone XR has the cheapest screen repair cost at US$199 (~RM828). Unsurprising, especially when you remember that the phone only uses an IPS display over the OLED display used in the other two models. In the case of the iPhone XS, the repair of its display is identical to last year’s iPhone X.

We’ve checked with some of the authorised local resellers and their price list, including Switch and Machines. At the time of writing, neither reseller has updated their device list to include the local cost of repair for the iPhone XR, XS, and XS Max. However, it is likely that they will update their list by next week as the phones are slated to be available this coming Friday.
