Nintendo Reportedly Begins Rollout Of Patched Switch Consoles

Nintendo has supposedly begun selling newer versions of the Switch console that patch a flaw that allows them to be hacked. There’s currently no telling which of these consoles have been patched, although more should be appearing in stores over time.

The updated Switch comes as a fix for a critical flaw with Nvidia’s Tegra chip; one that allows hackers to execute their own code on the console. It flaw currently allows pirated games to run on the console; a situation that Nintendo has been eager to prevent.

The company has been trying to clamp down on this sort of behaviour by banning any accounts that have been found to run pirated content. But that has only been a temporary fix for the larger problem.

Bad News: Reports of new Switches in the wild not being vuln to f-g… probably updated ipatches.
Good news: they’re coming with 4.1.0 for now, which is vuln to deja vu.

Friendly reminder: if you want a hacked switch, don’t update. The lower the better. This is still very true.

Now, it would seem that Nintendo has a more permanent solution. Hacker @SciresM reports that newer Switch consoles appear to be immune to the Fusée Gelée hack. However, these consoles are apparently still vulnerable to a separate hack known as deja vu; which has been patched with a software update.
