Touch N Go To Begin Testing Mobile App Payments For The LRT

Touch N Go is beginning testing a payment service that will allow LRT commuters to use its mobile app to pay for transportation. The trial period is scheduled to take place for a limited number of users, and will only last for about two months.

The trial will focus solely on the Kelana Jaya LRT route, and involve using the QR code payment option available to the Touch N Go mobile app. All commuters have to do is scan the QR code available at the gates; and the app will handle the rest of the payments.

It’s a simple system that is set to begin testing this week, although we are unclear as to when it will start exactly. Additionally, only the first 1000 Touch N Go mobile users to sign up will be allowed to use QR code payments. Even then, it will only last until 31 July 2018; when it will be shut down for further review.

Touch N Go launched the app back in March 2018; although it has been relatively quiet since. The original intention of allowing funds to be transferred to Touch N Go cards was dropped after consulting with users as to its efficiency.
