Samsung Android Go Phone Might Be Heading To Malaysia Soon

Samsung is reportedly in development of a new Android Go smartphone for selected markets. India will be the first market to receive a Samsung-branded Android Go device but Malaysia is apparently slated to receive one as well.

Using the model number SM-J260G, the model may be parked under the J-series moniker when it is released here in Malaysia. We already saw the benchmark listed on Geekbench a couple of months ago, but now we have some hints that it is heading to our market.

The model will be part of a global release, with different countries getting different market-specific models. This includes SM-J260F for the United Kingdom, Uzbekistan, Caucasus Countries, Germany, Italy, Ukraine, Russia, Kazakhstan, France and Poland; SM-J260M will be heading to Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Trinidad and Tobago, Peru, Panada and Paraguay while the aforementioned SM-J260G should pop up in Cambodia, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia and Vietnam.

As the first Samsung model with a stock-like experience, the phone should be an interesting experiment for the company. Using the J-series branding also markets it as a low-cost device which indicates that Samsung sees potential of using Android Go as a low-cost bait for customers to enter the greater Samsung ecosystem.
