Huawei Watch 2 Updated With eSIM Option; Global Availability Still Uncertain

Huawei appears to have quietly updated the Huawei Watch 2 with a new connectivity option. Despite this, the ‘new’ design is still largely the same smartwatch from last year; having retained everything from its predecessor.

The Huawei Watch 2 (2018), it is being referred to now, first appeared on Vmall. Where it was listed with a new 4G LTE eSIM option. In this case, the eSIM option allows users to easily switch between telcos; without the need to install a different SIM for each carrier.

The technology is not necessarily new, as manufacturers have been trying to push it to market for several years now. However, it’s been largely met with resistance from western telcos; seeing that it makes porting out far too easy.

Aside from the eSIM, everything else has remained the same from the last Huawei Watch. It’s still powered by a Snapdragon 2100 with 768MB RAM and 4GB storage. The battery is rated to last about a day, depending on the type of usage – and whether LTE is enabled.

The Huawei Watch 2 (2018) is only available through Vmall.com at the moment, with prices that start from ¥2,000 (RM1240).
