GrabPay Now Available Through The Grab App

Grab Malaysia has activated its e-wallet service in the country, with GrabPay being added to the regular Grab app. As promised, the company is looking to create a centralised ecosystem that will allow users to pay for everything through a single service; covering transport, food, goods, and services.

GrabPay works on the increasingly common QR code scanning method, which puts it in line with Bank Negara’s plan to create a more unified experience for users. Also like other e-wallets, it will need to be loaded with credits first. Either through a credit card, reload coupons in 7-Eleven, or online banking.

There are a large number of merchants already accepting GrabPay, thanks to a strategic partnership with Maybank. This allows cross platform payments with places that already use Maybank’s QRPay e-wallet.

Using GrabPay also earns the user Grab Rewards, with a conversion rate of five points for every RM1 spent through the app.

This is the second new service from Grab in the past month or so, with Grab Food currently being trialed in the Klang Valley. There are supposedly more plans from Grab in its ecosystem plan, and it looks like there will be more from the company in the near future.
