Computex 2018: Plextor M9Pe Extreme In The Works; Has Sequential Read Speeds Up To 6500MB/s

Plextor offered us a glimpse of its next PCIe NVMe Gen3 4x storage solution at its HQ. The product in question was the M9Pe Extreme; a souped up version of its M9Pe that is currently on the market.

In terms of speed, the M9Pe Extreme can achieve blistering fast sequential read and write speeds of up to 6500MB/s and 5000MB/s respectively. For context, that’s more that double the sequential read and write speeds of the M9Pe.

We should point out that the image above isn’t the finished product. That’s just a testing board used by Plextor to put PCIe SSD samples through their paces. Plextor told us that the finished product would look similar to the design of its M9Pe, the only difference is that it would be a little bit taller.

When speaking about availability, Plextor said that it was aiming at a 2019 launch for the M9Pe Extreme. It would also have a massive storage capacity option of 4TB; four times more than the M9Pe’s maximum storage option of 1TB.
