Computex 2018: MSI Launches Optix MAG271CR Curved Gaming Monitor; Costs Less Than RM2000

MSI had a lot of gaming displays to show off at its booth here at Computex 2018, but one monitor that caught our attention was the Optix MAG271CR curved gaming monitor. Like most curved gaming monitors, the MAG271CR has a curvature of 1800R. Specs-wise, the MAG271CR is a 27-inch Full HD TN panel. It also has a 144Hz refresh rate, 3000:1 contrast ratio, as well as a 1ms display response time.

For ports, you’re looking at two HDMI ports and one DisplayPort at the back of the display. Another nifty little feature is a retractable headphone hangar that is built into the left side of display.

Interaction with the monitor’s on-board menu is controlled by a single red analogue stick that is situated on the right side of the monitor’s back. However, users can also access the display’s configuration via MSI’s new Dragon Center app, which can be downloaded and installed from the company’s support page.

MSI says that the MAG271CR is slated for global release sometime after July, and will retail at an SRP of US$400 (~RM1600) for this RGB variant. There’s also a non-RGB variant, one which MSI will definitely cost less. Unfortunately, MSI couldn’t provide us with the price for the non-RGB variant, so we’re going to have to wait until its launch to find out.
