Computex 2018: 2nd Gen AMD Ryzen Threadripper To Be Available In Q3’18, Features 32 Cores and 64 Threads

Based from what we just saw at AMD press conference earlier today in Taipei, the company certainly has plenty to show to the world. Among the major announcement that AMD has made at the event is a set of new information regarding the upcoming 2nd Gen Threadripper processor.

While it has been known for a while that AMD will be releasing the chip later this year, it is only today that the company revealed that the 2nd Gen Threadripper will be made available with up to 32 cores which deliver 64 processing threads.

In terms of performance, AMD stage demonstration showed that the new chip able to beat Intel Core i9-7980XE in Blender test without any problem. This is despite the fact that the 2nd Gen Threadripper was set to run at 24 cores and running on air cooler while the Intel’s system is fitted with liquid cooling.

Meanwhile, it also turns out that users would not have to wait too long to get their hands on the new chip. Over at the event, AMD has revealed that the company will be shipping the 2nd Gen Threadripper within Q3 2018 which is not far away.
