Xbox May update brings Discord linking, improved refresh rate and more
Microsoft has rolled out the newest Xbox system update for the month of May, bringing with it a suite of new features and improvements.
To start, Xbox One owners will now be able to link their Discord and Xbox Live accounts for easier social interaction. To link the accounts, you’ll have to boot up the Discord app on PC or on mobile.
From there, go to the Connections tab under User Settings to find the Xbox Live option, from which you’ll be able to sign into your Xbox Live account. After enabling permission, the accounts will be linked. Going back to the Xbox One, you’ll need to open the Account Settings menu to select “Linked social accounts,” which will have a new option available to link Discord accounts.
Clicking this will send you a unique code from Xbox that you’ll have to put into the Discord app under the Connections tab, which will complete the linking process.
For more social interactivity, the update also adds a new sharing feature that lets you trim your recent game captures directly from the Guide to enable direct posting to Twitter. Previously, you would have had to switch to the Upload Studio to make a quick cut to your saved clips.
On the visual side of gaming, the update also brings support for 120Hz refresh rate monitors and TVs in both 1080p and 1440p resolutions.
Finally, a number of setting options have been introduced for additional ease-of-use, including a ‘Details’ page to let parents better monitor which family settings they have turned on and more functionality for the ‘View’ button in the main dashboard.
A full breakdown of the update can be found on the official Xbox blog.
