The Steam Spring Cleaning Event Goes Live
The Steam Spring Sale has started. This year, Valve is calling it the Steam Spring Cleaning Event and as the name would suggest, it’s not your typical Steam Sale either.
Rather than just providing Steam users with a massive discounts over select titles, the Spring Cleaning event will reward players with trophies earned from completing either tasks or projects. To complete either one, users simply need to play a selection of games that are in your library.
Tasks are challenges that refresh daily, and are games that are picked out at random. Projects are more long-term; the games of choice are less randomised, and are more categorised and group into different themes. For example, there’s the “Nostalgia” project, which encourages you to play a game that you’ve clocked in more than two hours with, but haven’t touched in a very long time.
The reward for completing Tasks or Projects are just Steam profile badges. And yes, while there are a great many of us who do not necessarily care for such achievements, it’s clear that the Spring Cleaning Event is aimed at getting gamers to try out, complete, or even replay certain titles that have been sitting in their inventory list for so long.
Naturally, there are some titles that are free to play for the duration of the event, and those titles are:
- Don’t Starve Together
- Dead by Deadlight
- Cities: Skyline
- Tyranny
- Borderlands 2
- Castle Crashers
- Shadow of Mordor
- Left 4 Dead 2
- Dirt 2
The Steam Spring Cleaning Event starts from 24 May 2018 (25 May for us) and will end on 28 May 2018 (29 May for us).
