HP Sequencer Gaming Keyboard Features Optical-Mechanical Switches & RGB Lighting
HP unveiled quite a number of Omen-branded products today, and one of them is a new mechanical keyboard. Featuring optical-mechanical Blue switches and RGB lighting, the HP Sequencer is quite an interesting keyboard.
Given its target audience, the Sequencer sports…a very gamer-centric design. It has an anodised aluminium frame with a brushed finish, a USB port at the back of the keyboard, as well as a “visually striking” red metal volume roller bar and dedicated media keys. There also appear to be five programmable macro keys on the left side of the keyboard.
But the most interesting hardware of the Sequencer is its optical-mechanical switches. Basically, the switches register a keypress by breaking a beam of light instead of relying on metal-to-metal contact of traditional mechanical switches. According to HP, the optical switches have a 0.2ms response time, which is said to be 10 times faster than conventional switches.
Naturally, the Sequential also features individually backlit RGB keys – the lighting effects can be customised via HP’s Omen Command Center.
The HP Sequential is a pretty interesting gaming keyboard, but it carries a hefty price tag: it’s set to retail from $179.99, which comes up to about RM715. Nonetheless, it’s expected to be available sometime in July 2018.
