Google is reportedly using Foxconn to manufacture the Pixel 3 series
Google will not have LG make the Pixel 3 lineup, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, who cited anonymous sources.
Instead, the company has allegedly discussed using Taiwanese manufacturing company Foxconn for the hardware.
Gurman also reported information regarding the Pixel 3 XL’s notch. The sources indicated that the Pixel 3 XL notch will not be as wide as the iPhone X, but noticeably taller. Google’s devices will continue to keep stereo speakers on the front, meaning they’ll keep their bottom chins.
Further, the Pixel 3 XL will include two front-facing cameras within the notch, as seen in a previous rumoured image. Additionally, the Pixel 3 will continue to use a single rear-facing lens.
Gurman also said that the part of HTC phone-making business that Google acquired last year is heavily involved with the hardware and software of the new handsets.
Leaker Roland Quandt further backs up Bloomberg’s article with more information about the Pixel 3 rumour.
Google really is going it alone: there are two Google Pixel 3 devices in the works, both based on SDM845. One has "new display hardware", both are built by Foxconn – not HTC, LG or whomever. Launch timeframe is Aug/Sep 2018. https://t.co/CelnTfO5IB

Quandt, a reliable source for leaks, indicated that the devices will both use the Snapdragon 845 chipsets and launch around August or September 2018. He also more firmly confirms that Google will use Foxconn for the Pixel hardware.
The larger Pixel variant will reportedly use what Quandt called “new display hardware,” new sensors and cameras. Meanwhile, the smaller device will come with “more traditional” hardware.
Additionally, Quandt indicated that the Pixel 3 XL is listed under the abbreviation “Google GBI,” while the Pixel 3 is listed under “Google GCI.”
Quandt said the information comes from “an absolutely” reliable source.
Foxconn is responsible for the hardware used on the Essential Phone, iPhones and even some older BlackBerry smartphones.
Hopefully this information is true, as the LG display used on the Pixel 2 XL received a lot of complaints in 2017.
