Future Apple iPhones To Feature Fast Chargers In The Box
Apple may finally be getting around to bundling a faster charger with iPhones. At least for the devices that are being announced later this year. Curiously, the leaked renders also show a USB Type-C connector on the charger; indicating that there might be Lightning to Type-C cable right in the box.
The iPhone 8 and iPhone X already support fast charging, but consumers need to buy a separate fast charger from Apple.
The new power brick will also charge at a higher wattage. ChargerLab says that the new brick will push 18Watts – more than three times higher than the current 5Watt charger found in the iPhone 8 and iPhone X box. Plus, the brick will be smaller than last year, with a more rounded design.
This is good news for Apple users. The inclusion of fast charger has been standard practice for Android manufacturers since the adoption of fast charging. It is also heartening that Apple is adopting the universal USB Type-C for its smartphone line. Maybe next year we will see an iPhone with a Type-C port instead of the Lightning connector.
