Call Of Duty: Black Ops 4 Will Have A New Battle Royale Mode

Treyarch, the developer behind the Call of Duty: Black Ops franchise, is ditching a single-player campaign for its upcoming Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 (Black Ops 4) title. Instead, it says that Black Ops 4 will be almost exclusively dedicated towards a new competitive Battle Royale and coop Zombies mode.

The studio describes the new Blackout mode is like a cross between two of today’s most popular battle royale titles – PlayerUnknown’s Battleground (PUBG) and Fortnite.

Treyarch says that there several major key differences between its typical multiplayer mode and Blackout. As a start, your characters will now have health bars, and health regeneration is non-existent and is left to mercy of a team medic.

Treyarch also said that map size in Blackout is also different. Compared to usual COD multiplayer mode, the scale of Blackout’s map are massive, and will require players to walk a little in order to reach their self-specified objectives. On another note, Black Ops 4 will also do away with the much disliked wall jumping and wall running feature that were introduced in the previous Black Ops installment and Advanced Warfare.

Another departure from the norm is that Black Ops will be only made available for the PC through Battle.net. Likely due to the influence of publisher Activision; which did the same thing for Destiny 2.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is slated for a 12 October 2018 release.
